This year’s harvest from Kalledevarapura has a medium body and a light, tea-like mouthfeel which our roasters recommend enjoying as an espresso, Cold Brew, Pour Over or AeroPress. With notes of brown sugar, roasted almond, and raisin, this coffee is perfect to start your day with!

About Kalledevarapura

Kalledevarapura Estate dates back to the 1900s and was the first farm we visited! The lush estate is situated at an altitude of around 1300m in the picturesque Bababudangiri Hills in Chikmagalur, Karnataka.

Brewing Guides

French Press

Brewing Method

  • Add coffee, pour all 240ml of water and stir around 6-7 times to saturate grounds.
  • Cover with lid and at 4:00 min, slowly plunge.
  • Pour in to your cup immediately after plunging to avoid over extracting the coffee.

Aeropress

Brewing Method

  • Using the inverted method, add coffee. Start timer, add 70ml water and stir for 20 seconds.
  • At 1:00 brew time, pour 80 ml more water and stir a few more times and put on cap with filter paper.
  • At 2:00 minutes, flip on to cup and slowly plunge for 30 seconds.
  • Top up the coffee in your cup with 90 ml water, stir and enjoy.

Brewing Method

  • Add coffee into top chamber
  • press plunger to flatten/level and compact slightly.
  • pour hot water over top, place lid and let it drip through over 9 to 9:30 minutes
  • Take 50ml coffee with 1 teaspoon of sugar, and add 60ml of hot milk Or, without milk add 50ml of hot water.

Brewing Method

  • Place water that is lightly heated in the lower chamber and fill filter with coffee.
  • Screw on top and place on stove on high heat.
  • Remove from stove once you hear a hissing sound.

Cold Brew

Brewing Method

  • Add coffee and filtered cold water in 1.5L vessel.
  • Stir so all grinds are wet. Cover with a lid or cling wrap and leave on counter top at room temp.
  • After 18 hours, stir grinds and filter through muslin cloth or cold brew filter. Store in fridge for up to 4 days.

Pourover

Brewing Method

  • Rinse filter paper with hot water to pre-heat cone.
  • Add coffee, start timer and pour 50ml of water. Stir a few times and allow to bloom for 30 seconds.
  • Add 60ml of water and stir a few more times.
  • Slowly pour another 60ml at 1:30 minute total brew time and again at 2:00, without stirring. Aim for all the water to drip through around 3:30 minutes.

Channi

Brewing Method

  • Add coffee to vessel and start timer.
  • Pour water off the boil and stir for 10 seconds.
  • Cover the vessel and allow the coffee to brew for 5:00 minutes.
  • Pour through channi and top up with hot water or hot milk to your taste

Home Espresso

Brewing Method

  • Add cold water to your machine.
  • Place ground coffee in your basket, and very lightly press and flatten out the grinds with your tamper.
  • Insert handle into the machine and turn on to make espresso.
  • Start timer and stop machine a 2-3 seconds before recommended brew time as coffee will continue to drip through.
  • if you are using scales the shot should weigh between the suggested range.
  • Add steamed milk or hot water to taste.
