Our Dhak Blend is an ode to one of our favourite Indian trees with its colourful flame-like flowers that signal the onset of Spring. The coffees used in this blend are naturally processed which means that the coffee bean is dried with the cherry, resulting in complex, fruity and sweet flavours.

Roasted dark to bring out flavours of dark chocolate and fruit jam, this blend’s heavy cocoa body leaves a smooth lingering aftertaste.

This blend pairs well with milk, and our roasting team recommends it for espresso-based drinks as well as manual brews such as the Moka Pot and the French Press.

Brewing Guides

French Press

Very Coarse Grind Size

Brewing Method

  • Add coffee and start timer
  • Pour 40ml of water and stir vigorously for a few seconds
  • At 30 seconds, pour another 200ml of water and cover with lid
  • At 3:30 min, stir a few times, allow the grinds to fall and slowly plunge
  • Pour in to your cup immediately after plunging to avoid over extracting the coffee

Brewing Method

  • Pre-wet the filter paper, place in the cap and set aside
  • Using the inverted method, add coffee to chamber
  • Start timer, add 50ml water and bloom for 30 seconds
  • Add 100ml more water and stir vigorously for a few seconds
  • At 1:30 minute total brew time, add cap with filter paper and flip Aeropress on to your cup.
  • Slowly press over the next 1 minute
  • Top up with 70ml of hot water

South Indian Filter

Brewing Method

  • Add coffee into top chamber
  • Lightly press 3 times with plunger to level and compact slightly
  • Pour hot water over top, place lid and let it drip through over 10 to 11 minutes.
  • Take the decoction and add 30ml to a cup and add either 35ml of hot milk or 30ml of hot water

Moka Pot

Brewing Method

  • Place water that is lightly heated in the lower chamber and fill filter with coffee.
  • Screw on top and place on stove on high heat.
  • Heat on medium until you hear a gurgling sound, or when you see the water has finished bubbling through.
  • Immediately pour into your cup.

Cold Brew

Brewing Method

  • Add coffee and filtered cold water in 1.5L vessel.
  • Stir so all grinds are wet.
  • Cover with a lid or cling wrap and leave on counter top at room temp.
  • After 18 hours, stir grinds and filter through muslin cloth or cold brew filter.
  • Store in fridge for up to 4 days.

Brewing Method

  • Rinse filter paper with hot water to pre-heat cone.
  • Add coffee, start timer and pour 75ml of water.
  • Stir 3-4 times and bloom for 30 seconds.
  • Slowly pour 175ml more water in one pour over the next 30 - 45 seconds.
  • Allow the coffee to drip through and aim for a total brew time of around 3:30 minutes.

Brewing Method

  • Place ground coffee in your basket, and very lightly press and flatten out the grinds with your tamper
  • Insert handle into the machine and press button to start brewing
  • Start timer and stop machine a 2-3 seconds before recommended brew time as coffee will continue to drip through
  • If you are using scales the shot should weigh between the suggested range
  • Add steamed milk or hot water to taste
