Garigekhan Estate
AUGUST 22, 2023
Nestled at an elevation of 1,100–1,400 MASL, Garigekhan Estate borders the Muthodi Sanctuary range of the Bhadra Tiger Reserve. Established in 1976 by planter D. A. Graham, the estate draws its name from the two towering Garige (Red Cedar) trees that once marked its entrance.
Since 2002, it has formed the heart of the Garigekhan Cluster of the Kelachandra Group, which also includes RR Plantation, Dongekhan Estate, and Kithlekhan Estate.
Robusta and Arabica varieties, including Catimor 129, flourish here under a canopy of forest trees, intercropped with pepper, turmeric, orange, and lemon. The estate is also home to peacocks, gaurs (Indian Bisons), tigers, bears, elephants, honeybees, and other pollinators.
