St. Joseph Estate is the first coffee we've roasted from a new partner farm — one stewarded by a community of Jesuit priests whose care for the land goes back generations. It sits in the Palani Hills of Tamil Nadu, and this is its debut on our site.
It's a washed coffee, roasted medium-dark. It opens with warm brown-spice aromatics, then a syrupy mouthfeel carrying grapefruit, clove and toffee. The body is medium-high, with a chocolatey note on the finish. It's the kind of cup that rewards a slow morning.
It's versatile in the cup. Black, it holds its own — the spice and toffee read clean. With milk, it has the body to lead instead of getting lost. Our roasters reach for it as an espresso, but it's just as good through an AeroPress, Moka Pot or French Press.
A couple of practical things, in case it's your first time buying from us.
Available in 13 grind sizes plus whole bean. Pick the grind that matches the device you brew on; if you're not sure, check the grind guide by the selector, and the brewing guides further down the page.
We roast in small batches. The roast date is printed on every bag. For this coffee we suggest letting it rest about 10 days after the roast date before you brew — that's when it hits its stride. Keep it sealed, away from sunlight, and finish it within four to six weeks of opening.
Proudly Indian. Honestly Crafted.
FAQ
Which grind do I pick?
Select the grind that matches your brewing method. Not sure? Check our grind guide. If you don't have a brewer but have a tea strainer, choose the Channi grind and brew it using the Channi method. If you'd rather have no equipment at all, look at our Easy Pour sachets or Drop concentrates.
Is this the same as instant coffee?
No. St. Joseph Estate is roasted coffee beans (or ground from those beans). You'll need a brewing device — a French press, AeroPress, Moka Pot, espresso machine, or even a tea strainer for the Channi grind. If you want a no-equipment specialty option, look at our Easy Pour sachets, Drop concentrates or our coffee capsules.
How fresh is it when it arrives?
Roasted in small batches. The bag carries the actual roast date. For this coffee we suggest resting it about 10 days after the roast date before you brew.
How long does an open bag stay good?
Four to six weeks once opened, stored sealed and away from light. Whole beans keep slightly longer than ground.
