Easy Pour Coffee

Quick. Hassle-Free. Delicious.

Easy Pour Brewing Instructions

Step 1

Tear and open the outer sachet and take out the coffee filter. Tear along the dotted line on the top of the filter within the sachet.

Step 2

Firmly anchor the filter over the sides of your cup. Ensure that you use a standard cup with a capacity of 180-200 ml.

Step 3

Slowly pour hot water through the filter and wait 20 seconds. Repeat this process 2-3 more times, until your cup is full.

Step 4

Ensure that the filter is at least half-submerged and let the coffee steep for 2 more minutes. Finally, discard the filter.

Easy Pour Brewing Tips

1. How to add milk?

To ensure optimal extraction of flavors, DO NOT pour milk directly through the filter. If you take your coffee coffee with milk and sugar, we recommend our medium-dark and dark roast Easy Pour variants. Use a shallow cup to make a strong brew (refer to Tip 3), and after discarding the filter, add milk little by little (to taste).

2. Too sour, or too bitter?

If your coffee tastes too sour or tangy, reduce the volume of water or let the filter steep one more minute while making you next cup. On the other hand, if it tastes too bitter, you may add more water, or reduce the steeping time by 30 seconds to a minute to cut the extraction sooner.

3. How to make a stronger cup?

If you find your cup weak in flavor for your liking, or prefer stronger coffee, let the coffee filter steep in the cup for an additional 2-3 minutes (4-5 minutes total after pouring the water). This will allow the extraction to continue and result in a more concentrated brew.

4. Ideal Water Temperature

For best results, use slightly cooler water (90- 92°C or 3-4 mins off the boil) for darker roasts to avoid over extracting the brew so it doesn’t taste bitter (like pure cocoa). Similarly, lighter roasts require hotter water (94-96°C or 90 secs off the boil) to extract the flavours.

Easy Pour Coffee Selection Guide

Here are some recommendations based on how you prefer your coffee.

  • Black Coffee
  • With Milk
  • Bold & Bitter
  • Sharp & Light
  • Fruity
  • Nutty & Chocolatey

We recommend these for their delicate and complex flavors to everyone who likes their coffee black. The lighter roasts exhibit tea-like floral notes, and the mediums are tangy and sweet to taste.

Easy Pour FAQs

Is this the same as instant coffee?

No, this is not powdered instant coffee or premix coffee; however, it is as quick and hassle-free to brew. So you can now enjoy premium specialty coffee without any equipment. All you need is a cup and some hot water.

Can I pour milk directly into the filter?

We suggest that you don't. To ensure optimal extraction and best flavours, we recommend brewing with hot water. You may then add milk to the resulting brew to taste after removing the filter from the cup. We suggest adding milk slowly and tasting until the preferred results are achieved

What is the shelf-life of the Easy Pour coffee?

All Easy Pour sachets are nitrogen flushed to preserve the freshness of the coffee. They can be consumed for up to 6 months from the date of manufacturing. In case you’ve received a box with less than 3 months remaining on expiry, please send the order details to getcoffee@bluetokaicoffee.com along with a photo showing the manufacturing date and we’ll replace it.

How much coffee does each sachet contain?

Each Easy Pour filter contains 11 grams of ground coffee - for a standard single serving of 180-200 ml cup.

Do the Easy Pour sachets contain the same coffee as the normal pouches we buy online and in your cafes?

Yes, we have used the same coffee from our partner farms as we retail in full-size packs. The roasting profiles for the coffee that goes into these sachets is exactly the same as that for our larger size pouches.

Can I reuse the Easy Pour filter?

No; as each filter is designed to be a single serve that brews only one cup of coffee.

What is nitrogen-flushing? Is it safe?

Nitrogen flushing is a technique used in food packaging that removes the oxygen from the pack to prevent oxidation and degradation. By using this method we are able to increase the longevity of the coffee and preserve freshness for 6 months. Nitrogen is a naturally-occuring, odourless, and food-safe inert gas. It is abundantly present in the atmosphere (we breathe it daily and are doing so right now) and it does not react with the coffee or affect its flavour in any way.

How do I dispose of the pour-over filter?

The Easy Pour filters are made with a fully biodegradable material. So you can toss the used filters with your wet-waste without any worry.

What is the filter material made of?

The filters are made with food-grade paper.
