Yellikodige Estate is located on 152 acres at an altitude of 3,800 ft in the Aldur region of Chikmagalur, Karnataka. The estate is more than a century old, and the original owner C.H. Godfrey sent the bulk of the coffee grown directly to London. In 1973, K.R. Sethna acquired the estate and capitalized on his background as an environmentalist and ornithologist to transform the estate to completely organic over the next 16 years.
The estates current owners, UM Ramesh Rao and Dinakar Rao have carried on the organic traditions started by K.R. Sethna. All of the plants are fertilized with cattle, goat and chicken manure, as well neem cakes and the mulched leaves from the numerous shade trees grown on the estate. Weeding is done manually and insects are controlled using neem oil spray.
The coffee grown is certified organic by the I.M.O and the curing is done by Kotordie Curing Works (which also cures our popular M.S. Estate Organic Arabica) to ensure no post-harvest contamination.
